The most representative image of the Spanish soldier in the overseas squares was the uniform of rayadillo, although this type of uniform was also used in the Peninsula, although with differences.
The peninsular uniform had broader stripes and a sepia tone instead of the blue tone of the uniform of the Cuban and Philippine troops.
The uniform of the soldiers of CUBA 1898, was made with striped cloth, with blue stripes of 1.6 mm of thickness, separated by white stripes of something less than half of this width, which gave an aspect, seen at a certain distance , of being of a blue-gray color.
