CUBA 009 SPANISH INFANTRY STANDING FIRING 3

Metal miniature depicting a Spanish infantryman in the Cuban war.

Although our figures do not wear it was also usual to use the typical machete used on the island of Cuba to cut the sugar cane as part of the individual equipment. This tool could be used as such to make its way through the jungle or as a weapon for melee combat. It is a large broad-blade knife about 40 cm long tapered only on one side. Well used was a formidable weapon both physically and psychologically.
