We can appreciate that the helmet of this heavy Roman infant almost completely covers his face.
This is due to the change in combat tactics.
The shield is no longer the square scutum of the legions, which almost completely protected his body and much of his face.
Neither uses the javelin, but the spear, so that his way of fighting is already very different from that of his ancestors.
His sword is longer and is already a cutting weapon, not a stock.
It is becoming more like a medieval pawn.
