Toy soldier 1/30th scale depicting a French infantryman during the trench warfare of the western front 1917-18.

Already in the Napoleonic period the French soldiers, to facilitate the movement in combat, began individually to hook the front tips of the skirts of their capes near the waist.

This allowed them to run more freely.

From then on, that individual decision became regulatory and can be found in almost all European armies.

It is a logical custom since it comes from the same that made appear the turns in the skirts of the coats of the eighteenth century.their soldiers were to stand out was the leaden blue of the North of France sky.

That is why they opted for the French soldiers to wear the color that was called the Bleu Horizon.
