Ricardo III of England, the last monarch of the House of York, faced his ultimate destiny in the famous Battle of Bosworth on August 22, 1485. This crucial encounter marked the end of the Wars of the Roses and solidified the Tudor dynasty on the English throne.

Ricardo III, known for his controversial rule and alleged involvement in the disappearance of his nephews in the Tower of London, was challenged by the Welsh nobleman Henry Tudor, who led a faction of the House of Lancaster. The battle took place in the field of Bosworth, in Leicestershire.

Ricardo III's army and Henry Tudor's forces clashed in an intense and bloody confrontation. Despite having a numerical advantage, the loyalty of some of Ricardo's nobles wavered during the battle. The key figure was Sir William Stanley, whose shift in allegiance to Henry Tudor proved decisive.

Ricardo III, fighting valiantly, made his way to the center of the battlefield. However, Stanley's betrayal and the exhaustion of his troops were decisive factors. Ultimately, Ricardo III faced Henry Tudor personally in a final effort, but the numerical and tactical superiority of Tudor's side prevailed.

In the heat of the battle, Ricardo III lost his life, becoming the last English monarch to die in combat. Henry Tudor proclaimed himself king on the battlefield, inaugurating the Tudor dynasty and ushering in a new era in England's history. The Battle of Bosworth brought an end to decades of conflict and symbolized a significant shift in political power and the kingdom's stability.
