The year of 1585. Alejandro Farnesio, after recovering Antwerp decides to reconquer the islands of Holland and Gelanda. He embarks on his army and leaves a tercio, the Tercio Viejo of Zamora, on the island of Bommel, located on the Meuse river. The field master, Francisco Arias de Bobadilla is in charge of this detachment of just over 4,000 men. Shortly after the departure of the bulk of the army, the island of Bommel and the Tercio Viejo of Zamora, are besieged by a fleet of 10 dutch ships under the command of Admiral Holak.
