The British army began to admit women into its ranks during the great war. In 1917 the "woman auxiliary army corps" was created, which during the Second World War became the "auxiliary territorial service".
This unit acted as motorized links and drivers of light vehicles, ambulances and transports. The then princess of Wales, served like conductor in the ATS. This figure represents a female biker link and her motorcycle is a BSA (Birmingham small arms)
