The company of engineers sappers of the guard, was organized in June of 1810, as part of the body of guard of the palace of Sant-Cloud where just before had taken place a fire while the emperor lodged in him.
After that, it was decided to create a company of fire fighters incorporated into the imperial guard, prepared for the extinction of any fire in the quarters or in the emperor's headquarters.
