The miter or grenadier hat, was used in the uniform of this type of soldiers, throughout Europe, with differences in its design. The Spanish army was bear skin, cylindrical view from the front, cut diagonally, profile view. And topped by a fabric sleeve finished in a borlón, which hung up to the back of its wearer.
The French grenadiers used a similar miter until 1760-70, but with the sleeve folded in such a way that the tassel would fall on the right side of the cap similar to that used by the Austrian army, until the Napoleonic wars.
The shield of the regiment and a series of arabesques were embroidered on the sleeve. And this piece of cloth was the color of the regiment's badge. In this case purple.
