The Italian carabinieri are a militarized police force created in the image of the French Gendarmerie of Napoleon as well as the Spanish Civil guard.
Both bodies, Spanish and Italian retain as a characteristic sign the hat type Tricorne which is clearly an evolution of the bicorne of the nineteenth century.
Because of his police and military character, he fulfilled the work of military police in the Italian Army.
