NP 797 Red Lancers. Trumpeter of the 2nd Imperial Guard Lancer Regiment

The Red Lancers of the 2nd Regiment of Napoleon's Imperial Guard, formally known as the 2nd Regiment of Light Horse Lancers of the Imperial Guard, were a prestigious cavalry unit established in 1810, derived from the regiments of the former Royal Dutch Guard.

Their distinctive uniform, identical to that of the Polish Guard Lancer Regiment but in scarlet, made them unmistakable on the battlefield. Armed with lances, sabers, pistols and carbines, these lancers stood out for their effectiveness in cavalry charges, using their speed and agility to disrupt enemy lines.

They participated in many Napoleonic campaigns, including the decisive battles of Borodino and Waterloo. Despite the fall of Napoleon in 1815, the legacy of the Red Lancers remains, symbolizing the valor and military excellence of the Imperial Guard.
