During the eighteenth century, the rules of organization of the regiments were established, which remained almost unchanged almost until the beginning of the 20th century.

These rules usually used to divide the regiments into companies of grenadiers and companies of riflemen or musketeers.

The grenadiers were chosen from among the tallest and strongest soldiers, and they differed in their uniforms mainly by wearing a special headpiece called "Mitra" because it reminded them of the liturgical garment of the church.

The Prussians used to wear a metal front miter, with royal guns embossed.

Other countries covered the bear-skin miter or other animals.

In addition, in the bocamangas, or fists, they appeared sardinetas in the buttonholes of the buttons that at the beginning were of abrasive material.

This allowed by friction, to ignite the wicks of the grenades.

In time, they became only an ornament, and the grenadier carried on his chest, hooked on the harness, which held his bag full of grenades, a rope lighter.
