During the defensive combats of the Lomas de San Juan, (San Juan'hills for the Americans), a small Spanish detachment resisted and stopped the advance of the US Army for a time.
Represented this time by the Rough Ridders of Teddy Roosevelt.
When the Yankee artillery began to seriously beat the positions, the Spaniards withdrew orderly.
