These two soldiers were in charge of transporting the image of the Immaculate Conception that had been discovered the night before, when digging a trench. The Dutch Catholics had buried her to protect her from the iconoclastic fury of the Protestants. Her appearance was considered miraculous and used as a propaganda coup to boost the morale of the troops. After the battle, after the victory, this thanksgiving procession was organized.
