On the morning of 22 August 1485, Richard III assembled his forces to face the army of Henry Tudor on the fields of Bosworth in Leicestershire. During the battle, the king led a daring cavalry charge against his rival's forces in a final attempt to decide the outcome. The intervention of Sir William Stanley's troops on Tudor's side ultimately turned the tide. Richard III died on the battlefield, becoming the last English monarch to be killed in combat. His defeat brought the Wars of the Roses to an end and paved the way for Henry VII and the beginning of the Tudor dynasty. This TOY SOLDIER portrays the King of the House of York during that final day.
