William Brandon was a brave warrior and loyal follower of Henry Tudor, who would later become Henry VII of England. However, it's important to note that the title of Henry Tudor's standard-bearer, sometimes attributed to William Brandon, is a subject of historical controversy.
In the Battle of Bosworth in 1485, a pivotal event in the Wars of the Roses, William Brandon showcased his courage by holding Henry Tudor's standard in the thick of the fray. It is said that Brandon fought with great fierceness and determination, safeguarding the banner that symbolized the hopes of his leader.
Despite his bravery, William Brandon did not survive the battle, sacrificing his life on the field of Bosworth. His loyalty and courage were remembered and appreciated by Henry Tudor, who, after his victory at Bosworth, became Henry VII, thus founding the Tudor dynasty.
Although the figure of William Brandon has, to some extent, remained in the shadows of history, his role as Henry Tudor's standard-bearer in the Battle of Bosworth has been remembered as an act of bravery and loyalty that contributed to the establishment of a new era in the English monarchy.
