The Falange was a minority group among the political groups present at the beginning of the war. In a very similar way to what happened to the Communist Party, very inferior in number to the Socialists, before the war, the combative attitude of the Falangists, and the romantic halo that threw over them the death of its founder, José Antonio Primo de Rivera, attracted to the ranks of Falange a multitude of young and not so young that little or nothing had to do with the original ideology of the formation.
Former members of Catholic action or the CEDA, ran to wear the blue shirt many convinced by the rudiments that knew the Falange ideology, others to feel members of a stronger group and some to use as a lifesaver or safe conduct that allowed them committing crimes totally alien to the Falangist spirit.
