Peter II the Catholic (1196-1213) was King of Aragon and Count of Barcelona. In July 1212, he joined Alfonso VIII of Castile and Sancho VII of Navarre at the decisive Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, where the Christian armies defeated the Almohad forces. Peter II's participation was essential to the alliance between the Christian kingdoms of the Iberian Peninsula. His presence in this campaign was one of the most significant episodes of his reign. This TOY SOLDIER portrays the Aragonese monarch wearing his crown and armour, with the characteristic red and gold colours associated with the Crown of Aragon, recalling his role in one of the great battles of the Reconquista.
