During the reign of Sancho VII the Strong (1194-1234), the Kingdom of Navarre took part in several defining events in medieval Iberian history. In July 1212, the Navarrese king joined his troops at the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, fighting alongside the armies of Castile and Aragon against the Almohads. The black eagle was one of the personal emblems used by Sancho VII in his documents and seals. This TOY SOLDIER evokes a knight from his army, displaying colours and heraldic symbols associated with the Navarrese monarch during one of the great campaigns of the Reconquista.
