The figure of the Praefectus fabri appears among the high commands that made up the staff of a legion. It was a professional soldier who had generally run the race from legionary to centurion and after passing through the position of primus pilus, was in charge of the supervision of works, weapons workshops and all those technological and construction services that allowed to operate to the legions like a perfectly oiled machine.
