HANDCRAFTED TOY SOLDIER depicting a Roman legionary at rest.
1:30 scale figure made from white metal alloy, modelled, cast, assembled and hand-painted in our workshop in Spain.
A collectible miniature featuring a Roman soldier wearing a helmet, chainmail and red tunic, together with characteristic elements of his military equipment.
Life as a Roman legionary was not spent entirely on the battlefield. A fundamental part of military service involved the everyday duties of guarding, protection and maintaining order within Roman camps and military settlements.
Soldiers assigned to Roman guard duty had to remain alert during their shifts, control entrances and protect both military installations and their fellow soldiers. These responsibilities were an essential part of the strict discipline that defined the Roman army.
Periods of rest were necessary to recover after marches, training exercises and long hours of duty. Even during these quieter moments, however, the legionary remained part of an organised military force, ready to respond to any threat.
This figure evokes a less frequently depicted aspect of Roman military history: the soldier's daily routine, the quiet moments between duties and the everyday life of the men who helped sustain the power of Rome.
PR 059 Guard at Rest is part of our collection dedicated to the Roman army and its soldiers.
