PR 083 Syrian foot archer

Syrian archers were renowned throughout Antiquity for their skill with the bow. Syria and the wider Near Eastern regions had a long-standing tradition of archery, and their warriors were valued by various armies and military powers of the ancient world.

The bow was an essential weapon in ancient warfare. It allowed soldiers to harass enemy forces from a distance, weaken their formations before close combat and provide valuable support to infantry units. Their ability to strike from a distance made archers an important element of ancient military forces.

This miniature depicts a Syrian foot archer, equipped with his bow and wearing clothing inspired by the military traditions of the ancient Near East. His pose and equipment evoke the presence of these skilled warriors in the armies of Antiquity.

This handcrafted TOY SOLDIER has been sculpted, cast and hand-painted, with particular attention to the details of his clothing, weaponry and facial expression.

An excellent addition for collectors of historical toy soldiers, ancient armies, Near Eastern warriors, archers and Roman military miniatures.
