The Kingdom of Meroe, located in the ancient region of Nubia, in present-day Sudan, was one of the great powers of northeastern Africa during Antiquity. Heir to the traditions of the ancient Kingdom of Kush, Meroe became an important political, commercial and military centre, maintaining both diplomatic relations and military rivalries with Ptolemaic Egypt and the Roman Empire.
Among its military forces, the Nubian archers were particularly renowned. The people of Nubia had a long-standing tradition of archery, and their skill with the powerful long bow was recognised throughout the ancient world. These warriors played an important role in the armies of the Kushite and Meroitic kingdoms.
Our miniature depicts an elite warrior of the Kingdom of Meroe, equipped with a large bow and a quiver of arrows. His short tunic, colourful waist sash and distinctive decorative elements are inspired by the appearance of ancient Nubian fighters.
This handcrafted TOY SOLDIER belongs to our collection dedicated to the peoples and enemies of the Roman world. An interesting addition for collectors of ancient military miniatures, Roman history and ancient African warriors.
Sculpted, cast and hand-painted in our own workshop in Spain, every Kronprinz figure is an artisanal collectible miniature created for discerning collectors.
