Collectible toy soldier in 1:30 scale (60 mm), modelled, moulded, cast and hand-painted in our own workshop. Depicting an ancient Gallic warrior, representing the Celtic tradition of fighting naked as a demonstration of courage and contempt for danger.
The Gauls were among the best-known Celtic peoples of antiquity. Organised into different clans and tribal communities, they occupied extensive territories across western and central Europe, engaging in numerous conflicts with the Greeks and Romans.
Celtic society placed great importance on personal courage and the prestige earned in battle. Some Gallic warriors took this attitude to the extreme, choosing to fight completely naked. Going into battle without armour or clothing was regarded by these warriors as a demonstration of bravery, pride and contempt for danger.
This unusual practice was recorded by classical authors and particularly impressed their Mediterranean opponents. Fighting naked became one of the most distinctive and recognisable images associated with certain Celtic warriors.
This toy soldier depicts a naked Gallic warrior, armed with a spear and shield, evoking the image of those ancient fighters who made personal bravery a defining feature of their warrior identity.
An interesting addition for collectors of historical toy soldiers, Celtic warriors and ancient armies.
