HANDCRAFTED TOY SOLDIER depicting a Roman sentry, from the Rome collection by Kronprinz Toy Soldiers.
A 60 mm Roman infantry figure in 1:30 scale, made from white metal alloy. Modelled, cast, assembled and hand-painted in our workshop in Spain. The figure is equipped with chainmail armour, a helmet, a spear and a decorated rectangular Roman shield.
In the Roman army, sentries played an essential role in protecting the legions and their military installations. Their duties included watching entrances, guarding military camps and outposts, and raising the alarm whenever suspicious movements or potential threats were detected nearby.
Guard duty was an integral part of everyday military discipline. Soldiers were assigned watch shifts both on the march and in temporary or permanent camps. Effective sentry duty helped prevent surprise attacks and secure the positions occupied by Roman forces.
This figure represents one of these watchmen, armed with a spear and protected by a rectangular Roman shield. His equipment evokes the appearance of the Roman legionary, whose presence was essential to maintaining security and order throughout the territories under Roman control.
A miniature commemorating the soldiers whose daily vigilance, away from the battlefield, helped sustain the organisation and effectiveness of the Roman army.
