The Imperial Gallic Roman helmet evolved from helmet designs used by the Gallic peoples during the 2nd century BC. Its design incorporated important defensive improvements, making it one of the most characteristic helmets of the Roman army.
One of its main innovations was the extended neck guard, providing considerably better protection against enemy blows. Its large curved cheek guards protected the face and helped deflect impacts towards the shoulders, while the reinforced frontal section offered additional protection against sword strikes.
This Legio V Macedonica Roman legionary depicts one of the characteristic equipment styles of the Imperial Roman army, complete with Gallic helmet, armour, shield and spear.
An excellent Roman Toy Soldier collectible for recreating the legions of the Roman Empire and expanding any collection of historical soldiers in 1:30 scale.
