The Gauls were great blacksmiths. Probably the invention of the chain mail, is due to its craftsmen. The other European peoples, mainly Greeks and Romans, continued to protect themselves with bronze and flax armor and helmets of the same material, although their weapons were of steel, when the Gauls already used that protection with interlocking rings, which gave them greater protection and ability to move.
