When the camp was provisional or of march, and the legionaries were staying in tents, they did not have a warehouse or armorer.Therefore, the four legionaries of each contubern who were not in arms service or were resting, placed their shields, javelins, helmet and other combat equipment in front of the tent, so that in case of emergency they could locate it and arm yourself quickly.
